 A neon sign or a decorative neon product is produced by curved colored glass tubes with a diameter of 8-24 mm, which can be formed into various shapes by a heating process. By using a vacuum turbo pump vacuum is produces in the tubes, which are then filled with neon and argon gas. Using a transformer with a voltage of 1000 V to 10 kV the gas in the sign is brought to a glow.

LED lighting is used for the illumination of visual advertising elements. It offers many advantages, such as a long lifetime of LEDs (up to 50,000 hours) and energy conservation. Luminosity and color do not change over time, and there is no maintenance required. The voltage is 12 or 24 V. Its comparatively smaller size than other types of lighting, makes for a simpler installation. The LED segments offer water protection IP68, meaning they can be used outdoors.
